A business is an organization
whose goal is to make a profit by providing goods and/or services to
consumers.  To be successful there are
many aspects that need to be addressed.

It’s common for people to open a business because they have a product to sell, or is a professional (accountant, physician, coach, attorney, dentist, massage therapist, hairdresser, etc.) who performs a service.  They may have never wanted to be a businessperson, but in order to sell their product or provide
their service they need to form a business.

There are many aspects to creating and running a successful business, and they all must be addressed if it’s to be profitable. Areas such as structure, management, employee relations, strategy, creating a mission and business plan, marketing and customer service, might all
be areas with which the business owner is unfamiliar.

I’m an author, counselor and coach, so when I began my career, running a business was a new thing for me.  However, it was necessary if I was going to be able to connect with the people who could benefit from my services.  Fortunately I was able to go
to school and learn all that’s involved, but it was a long and winding path.

The goal of these articles is to share with you what I’ve learned about the important aspects of being an effective business owner, so you will be able to avoid the struggle and move directly to success.
